I strive to be a team player and I like having a job that allows me diverse experiences. I like being challenged physically and learning more about land management in a hands-on way.
fIRE mANAGEMENT
I am currently certified to conduct prescribed burns and wildfire suppression with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. I have my red card and have completed S-130/S-190 traning courses. I have participated in many prescribed burns throughout my career.
Invasive plant management
I am currently certified in the state of Iowa to use pesticide. I participate in invasive species plant control and lead many volunteer and school groups in invasive species plant removal. As a graduate assistant at Pine Jog Environmental Education Center, one of my main duties was monitoring and executing invasive species control.
pRAIrie reconstruction and restoration
I have experience with many prairie restoration and reconstruction techniques. I have taught people of all ages how to collect, clean, stratify, and scarify prairie seeds. I have also led others in propagating, transplanting, and installing prairie plants. I have given many presentations about the basics of transforming farmland to prairie for adult learners.
